HaMaafia Neighbourhood

HaMa’afiya neighbourhood spread across an area of 130 dunams (13 hectares) and is located at the centre of the city of Eilat. Looking onto the mountains of Edom and the Gulf of Aqaba, it is adjacent to the main transportation points of the city and a short distance to the waterfront. 

The neighborhood currently has low density construction but a high number of small hotels and hostels. These hold a potential to develop an urban type of hotel clusters as an alternative to the major hotels on the waterfront.

The current masterplan that was the basis for this document, allows extensive construction of 250% with mix-use including retail, to support the urban development in the area. 

This document is coupled to the masterplan and defines guidelines for new buildings in the neighborhood, with several zones that have different programs.

The objective of this document is to ensure development that is urban, local and heterogenic while having a cohesive design language.
